This is a beautiful, #5 large tea/coffee pot by the prized American kitchenware and metalware manufacturer Manning, Bowman & Co. (1832-1945).Created in Meriden, Connecticut just prior to the turn of the 19th/20th century, this mixed metal coffee pot boasts a copper body, brass hinged lid with finial, and pewter handle, spout, and collar. It is ornately decorated in period, Art Nouveau style, with a built-in strainer and detailed handle and spout. As of 2016, over 70 Manning, Bowman & Co. designs are in American museums and collections, including most notably at Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford as well as the Brooklyn Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Yale University Art Gallery. Manning, Bowman & Co. exhibited products in the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, the Exposition Universelle (1878) in Paris and the Melbourne International Exhibition
CONDITION:
Good antique condition. Beautiful patina. Minor dings, dents, discoloration, scuffs etc, consistent with wear and tear from with age/use. To retain as much of its history, it has not been polished.I have another Manning, Bowman & Co. Tea Pot listed that is identical, except for the spout. (See last photo.)
