You are bidding on an Antique PETE the PUP Jointed Wood AND Composite Toy Character Figure J.L. Kallus 9 3/4" Over-sized composition head of googly-eyed pup with white face mask, black floppy ears, a red nose and a big smile. The toy has an all-wooden body with strung jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips, knees & ankles and he has oversized feet for balancing. His body has a painted green and black costume with yellow gloves. The series Hot-Dog Cartoons featuring "Pet...e the Pup" was created by Walter Lantz for Bray Studios which went bankrupt in 1927 before the cartoons could be created, Lantz later went on to Hollywood and created Woody Woodpecker. A doll model of the Pup was designed and produced by Joseph Kallus for Cameo, around 1927. The Antique Toy is in good condition with the original finish with some wear to the painted finish, some chips on the ear and a section on the composite on the head has come off. Also, a section of the "string" is coming out of one of the hands and is tied in a knot so it doesn't come loose. I will try to capture all flaws in photos. STAND SHOWN IN PHOTOS NOT INCLUDED.
