Look closely at these drums and you will see the streaks of hair made from using just a hand tool. If we thought we could use commercial rawhide and it would be about the same , we would do that. Its hard to explain how much work it is to make rawhide like this. We get buffalo hides from a buffalo processor, soak them in water for a day, then lace the hide on a frame. Some of these large bull hides can weigh over 150 lbs. Then we use a very sharp scraper to remove the meat. After it drys three to four days we can scrape the hair off. I'm trying to explain this so you will understand that there is real energy in making these. There is energy in these drums you will feel. Now let me ask you, how much energy do you think goes into making rawhide, by soaking hides in a chemical solution. Its your choice, do want something with real energy in it, or artificial energy?
This drum was painted by well known artist Sonja Holy Eagle, and signed by her. She uses natural earth paints, then seals it so it can even get wet without damaging the painting

The size of this drum is 18" by 2.75". We can add a braided leather handle on the back at your request for no extra charge. These drums hang nicely on a wall without the handle, that's why we don't put handles on unless you request one.
Drumsticks are available here at a separate listing for 20.00 Each You will not be charged additional shipping if you add that purchase to your drum.
