Original Description:
This is a beautiful Peace Pipe Tomahawk, and I know very little about it. The material appears to be bronze, but could be brass. It does has some weight to it. It has detailed markings with a heart cut out and a sun face on one side. The other side has less detail and quite plain. There is a marking inside the round circle in the center, but it’s difficult to make out as it is worn smooth. The bowl has a hole in the center. The handle is a hand carved solid piece of wood that has a lo...t wear from handling, with natural age patina. It looks to be hickory. I presume it would have had a hollow stem originally and this handle replaced it. I’m not an expert by no means, but I believe it to be an authentic Native American Artifact. It come from the estate of my late brother-in-law who was 70% Native American and an avid collector of historical artifacts. It’s a very beautiful piece of work. The head has lots of handling and age wear which is very visible. The handle measures 13 3/4” in total length x 1” wide. The ax head 5 7/8” long x 2” at widest end of ax cutting edge. Bowl is 1 1/4” deep.If you further photos or have questions, please feel free to ask.Thank you for looking!
