RARE 18TH CENTURY NATIVE AMERICAN GREAT LAKES AREA OAK BURL BOWL OLD SURFACE!From an old Collection in Connecticut. AN EXTREMELY RARE LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY NATIVE AMERICAN WOODEN STEEP WALLED BURL BOWL IN NATIVE OAK BURL. It has the BEST TIGHT BURL decoration and a wonderful hand scooped interior. It is in a great old finish with great color and Patina. GREAT LAKES NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES, Circa 1780-1820.Great early form being entirely scooped. The form is extremely earl...y with STEEP thick sides. Made out of OAK BURL, highly figured this great BOWL still has a nice old deep and mellow color and surface patina.A very rare example. IT HAS OLD INITIALS ON THE SIDE, WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE "I S".There are a couple of 19th century tin repairs that have great old color. They were put on to stabilize some old age cracks so the bowl could still be used. GREAT TOOL MARKS AND WONDERFUL SHRINKAGE.The size is 5 3/4" tall by 11" across at the top and 4 1/2" at the base.
