We are selling the tiki mug collection of a dear friend who passed away in April. We are working our way through several hundred pieces that were the culmination of a couple decades worth of collecting. Most of these mugs came from bars he had visited in his travels, tiki temples of yore, or are limited edition runs by current designers/makers including Tiki Diablo, Eekum Bookum, Tiki Tony, Crazy Al, Thor, Squid, Tiki Farm and others. We will be listing bits at a time over the coming w...eeks so keep checking back. 10% of the proceeds from these auctions will directly benefit the Fraternal Order of Moai and their charitable work for the people of Easter Island.
This mug was designed by Crazy Al Evans as merchandise for his band, APE. The mug is a monkey's head wearing a fez that says "APE." The face has a brown glaze and the fez is painted in red, gold and black. The mug comes with a lid with a straw hole and a swizzle stick with a monkey wearing a fez. The mug was manufactured by Tiki Farm in 2004. There were 250 made. A card signed by Al and hand numbered #195/250 is als included. There is an area under the chin that looks to either be a chip, or possibly an area that didn’t get glazed. Please look at photos closely.
