This is a beautiful Shoshone doll that is a pair to the woman I also have listed. He wears the traditional dancing outfit of the older Shoshone men -- soft, thin brain-tanned clothing adorned with yellow, green, and black beads. He wears an "apron" dance item beaded with an orange and green flower and beaded fringe. His leggings are fur above beaded moccasins (see photos). The doll's facial features are beaded with also a separate attached little leather nose which ar...e framed with black yarn. In his hand is clutched a feather fan. On his head is a dance piece. On the back he also has feathers and sequins intended to represent a certain Shoshone dance. This is an exceptional doll -- a leather body that can be posed a little due to an inner wire. He is from the 30's and kept in a case. There is not a spot on his gorgeous outfit. He is unsigned and stands 13 1/2" from bottom of base to top of his head ware. He is a great doll for a collection, representing rich cultural Shoshone history and colorful, skilled artistry. Just a wonderful doll.
