Old or Antique Hand Crafted Cree, Ottawa, Micmac or Other FirstNations Tribal Made Lidded Birch Bark Oval BoxCirca; Early to Mid-20th Century5 5/8 inches (17.5 cm) high x 8 ¼ inches (21 cm) long x 5 5/8inches (14 ½ cm) wideCondition: Very Good: There is some slight warping of the barkon the lid. The lid fits tightly to the box. The box is intact and useable.Description: This is an attractive old Great Lakes or EasternWoodlands lidded birch bark box. There was some cotton string used ...in theinterior construction. Split spruce root might be the strip cordage used tocreate the design and tie the segments of this creative container. It isestimated that birch bark boxes have been used for over twothousand years in northern forests.This item was from aNorthern California collection.Shipping insurance is included in the USA and on international shipments when available by the post office.
