Printed in the booklet are the words of the hymns that were sung that day, i...ncluding Martin Luther King, Jr.'s favorite hymn. There are also Dr. King's speeches, including the first speech he gave in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955, word for word. Reference is made to King's preaching on "love and compassion towards those who hate us". There are scripture quotes and prayers.
At the end is a memoriam given by Rev. Donald Szantho Harrington in which he states "He was our most eloquent orator. His speeches and sermons are full of the rich, Biblical imagery of his native and Negro south. Yet he never used his oratory, as he might so easily have, to become a demagogue or in the slightest degree to influence his people to do those things which would hurt them as well as others. He had a marvelous gift at his command. He was able somehow to enunciate the ancient dream of liberty, equality and brotherhood for all men, so that one could believe in their possibility for us in our time. He lifted the sights of all America - when at the Lincoln Memorial during that great march on Washington, he enunciated the dream". (Referring to the "I have a dream "speech).
