This is a very nice, original carte de visite photo of Captain Lucius M. Thayer of East Douglas, Massachusetts, who was originally enlisted in the 7th New York as a 30 day regiment, then commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the 53rd New York Infantry- the D' Epineuil Zouaves until they were disbanded. He then transferred to the 51st Massachusetts Infantry as Captain of Company I. He was discharged in late July, 1863. I am not sure if he was with the 7th at Bull Run, but it seems likely.
The... image is in excellent condition, with very little yellowing, and only one corner dented. He signed the carte on the back, and it is clearly readable. There are some pencil marks on the back from a previous owner. I will include a print-out of Captain Thayer\s wartime service with the CDV.
