Vintage Den Haan Rotterdam Brass Oil Lamp, with an Ideal Brenner 20 Burner, Trawler, Nautical, Pendulum oil lamp. CONDITION IS LISTED AS USED BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IT HAS EVER ACTUALLY BEEN USED. This Vintage Brass Oil lamp is a working Oil lamp that has a very high decorative value. It was made by Denn Haan of Rotterdam sometime in the 1950'S as a functioning Oil lamp for Marine Vessels. Denn Haan was started in Rotterdam in 1922 as a Tinsmithing Company and with in a few years began p...roducing nautical oil lamps. From 1954 to 1965 new export markets were developed both in Europe and in North America and their Oil lamps were marketed as decorative items and became very popular. In the 1970'S ships lighting became regulated and standards developed and electrical lamps became the norm. DHR as they are known today has become a symbol of quality and craftsmanship in Nautical Oil lamps. This particular Oil lamp is a Pendulum Oil lamp and is meant to be hung where it will sway and stay level with the waves. It can also be carried by the handle and will sit steady on a table. This model is known as a Trawler Oil lamp and is the largest Nautical Oil lamp made by DHR and has a Brenner 20 Burner that gives off a bright light. This particular oil lamp is a working oil lamp and works very well and gives off a very good light. The lamp is all original including the glass chimney that was hand made, the wick rises and lowers freely. There are no dents, bangs or majour, scratches on the brass however there are some slight weather marks on the brass. This is all consistent with age. Inside the brass shade is white stove enameled. The Brass is not lacquered and is all natural and will darken over time unless polished. This Brass Oil lamp can be both a Decorative and/or functioning piece for the home, patio or deck. It can also be put to use on a boat for it original intended purpose. Either way the quality of this lamp will give you many years of use with proper care.
