Swiss Model M1914 Pioneer ( Engineer) Saw-back bayonet. These were produced to go along with the K11 Schmidt Ruben carbines. Marked on the ricasso is the date of manufacture, 1935, as well as the presumptive maker, H.S.W., and an inspection proof (Swiss cross). Crossguard is serialized, '17407'. Regrettably, this bayonet no longer has its scabbard, but perhaps surprisingly these are seen on the loose with relative frequency and reasonable cost (I've seen around ...4 this year alone without too much searching pop up on eBay) so pairing this up with one shouldn't be a life-long crusade. Overall condition is very good with some minor patina, grease stains. No major dings or dents, no big flaws. Wood is in good shape, smooth but doesn't appear sanded. Lock button functions correctly as it should. Blade remains unsharpened and saw-teeth are suitably sharp; please use care handling this piece. Overall this is an excellent bayonet that would be a great addition to any collection and could be a fun restoration project (and easy, given all you need is a scabbard).
