Original WWII US M1 "Steel Pot" Helmet - Front Seam/Fixed Bale, Complete post-War Westinghouse Liner w/Sewen Chin Straps - RARE - Excellent ConditionUp for auction is an Original WWII US M1 "Steel Pot" Helmet. This is the early pot with the Front Seam, Stainless Steel Rim and Fixed Bales. It has the original sewen chin straps. The helmet shell has been repainted. Very ...Little wear on the paint, mainly around the rim. There are NO major dings or dents in the pot. It has a heat treatment stamping #323A, inside the shell. Shell has original vintage US helmet net with the large weave. Inside of shell is marked: HQ-126-3. It has a Westinghouse Liner. There is a Westinghouse logo in the liner, could not get it to show clearly in a photo. The liner has been repainted and has a Unit Emblem on both sides. It is complete with the original OD HBT webbing. The sweat band is original, with OD webbing. The markings are shown in the photo's. The nape strap is original, OD webbing, very faint markings as shown in the photo's. Leather chin strap original, dark brown in color. No cracks or tears, has a vintage repair, still very pliable. There is a name and service number written under the rim of the liner. This is a Nice Vintage all Original WWII M1 Steel Pot with that "BEEN THERE" look that so many collector desire.You don't find many original M1 Helmets that are ID'd offered for sale often, when you do they are usually at auctions and sell in the $400 to $500 + range.
