British No. 9 Mk I Bayonet Dated 1948 With Scabbard And Frog

Superbexample of the British No.9 Mk I bayonet, scabbard and frog, all of which arein near mint condition, and possibly unissued.TheNo.9 Mk I bayonet which is 10 inches in overall length, was approved on 22ndJune 1948, and this example, which was made at the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF)in Poole, Dorset, UK., is dated 1948.Productionof the No.9 bayonet at ROF Poole continued until 1949, when production of theNo.9 bayonet was moved to Enfield.TheNo.9 bayonet was made for use with the No....4 rifle and the Mk V Sten Gun (SMG).ThisNo.9 Mk I’s blade looks to be factory fresh in mint original condition, with100% of its original highly polished factory finish. It is a deep fullered 7.8inch ‘ Bowie ‘ blade with blackened ricassos. The blade is fitted to ablackened steel socket, which is fitted with a spring loaded catch for fittingthe socket onto the rifle or Sten Gun muzzle, which is then depressed torelease from the muzzle.Theunderside of the socket is stamped with a ‘ P ‘ within a circle being theproduction mark for ROF Poole, it is also year date stamped ‘ 1948 ‘. The sideof the socket also has the Inspector’s stamped mark ‘ F5B ‘.TheNo.9 Mk I’s sheet steel 8.6 inch scabbard with a matt black finish, is the sameas that used for both the No.5 and No.7 bayonets.TheBayonet comes with an original green webbing Pattern 1944 Frog, the front ofwhich has been service blackened.Thebayonet, scabbard and frog are in superb all original condition, which would beextremely difficult to upgrade.Please Note : Shipping charges for this item will be based on the buyer’slocation, and the final weight and size of the packaging, which will typicallybe shipped via either FedEx or USPS with tracking, insurance and a signaturerequired upon delivery, with the buyer being charged for shipping at theactual cost.
