Here we have an original Victorian 'Beehive' / 'Nelson' Duplex oil lamp shade.
The shade is cranberry tinted at the top, this fades towards the fitting, it has moulded acanthus leaves around the base, and moulded detail around the top, framing classical images of plants and faces, that crystal acid etched onto the glass, the type of etching you can feel.
Dimensions; The shade measures around 7 5/6" tall, has a standard straight-sided Duplex fitting rim of 4", and is around 7 1/4" wide.
Condition; excellent, a few manufacturing flaws to be expected, usual fleabites to the rough-cut fitting rim (though very minimal), top rim is has a small flake on the inner edge, showing a little clear glass, hardly noticed unless you look for it.
Overall, probably one of the most attractive shades of this style that I have had, a beautiful shade, in a beautiful colour.
