This is an extremely rare and highly sought after book. Though not experts, we are honest sellers and have researched and found that this book is quite rare. Even with over 100 years of ageing, wear, and all the imperfections, it still is in better condition with a secure binding than several of the same sold at auction over the last decade. The book does not have a date but another was attributed as the 1st edition and that "may" h...ave been when 1st published in 1876. Another stated it was the 1st American Edition. In any case it is an early edition and sure is old. The book details the apparatus, methods, and tricks used by magicians and conjurors of that era. Professor Hoffmann was considered one of the greatest authorities on the theory and practice of magic.
Condition: All pages intact and turn freely and readable. See cosmetic deterioration to outside of spine and cover, bumped corners etc. Photos provide a good sample of what the 562 pages look like. There are two stamps from previous owners on title page as shown. Some pages have some water stains on top as shown. A non-acid bookmark left toning on two facing pages as shown. Given the condition we are selling "as is" with no returns accepted so please feel free to ask questions and examine the photos carefully with ZOOM feature.
