Dog Tags Notched, Military Genuine Issue STOCK No. 74-T-50 Real Genuine Military Issue!! Made in 1940's-l950's. There is a difference between real Mil Spec. and Knockoffs, here are the most obvio...us …If the chain hole is not .141 +/- .005 inches inside diameter, then it is not Mil Spec. If the chain hole does not have a rolled edge it is not Mil Spec… not just a punched out hole with a flared edge. Most sellers say their Knockoff dog tags are Mil Spec, but they would be Rejected and not pass Military Inspection. Salient Characteristics. The identification tag shall be constructed from corrosion-resisting steel with a natural finish conforming A, HR, or CR, finish No. 1 of ASTM A 766. At any point on the flat more than 1/8 inch from the beaded edge, the finished tag shall have a maximum hardness of 179 on the Diamond Pyramid hardness scale when tested in accordance with ASTM E 92 or 88 on the Rockwell 15 T Scale when tested in accordance with ASTM E 18. The tag shall be 2.000 (+.005, -.020) inches long by 1.125 (+.003, -.025) inches wide with rounded edges (.75?RAD). The tag shall have a .141 +/-.005 inch diameter hole with the center of the whole located .156 +/-.005 inch from one edge. The thickness of the tag shall be .016 +/-.001 inch, and the thickness of the bead around the edge and hole shall be .0315 (+.0225, -.0025) inch.
