Please email with any questions. Liberation Issue THE STARS & STRIPES June 12, 1944, 8 pages. Front page has a day-by-day review of "the storming of the Continent by Allied armies", 2, 000 US warplanes in a "savage assault on a wide variety of enemy military installations in France.". This London issue was the 1st edition delivered to soldiers in France, "designed to bring them up to date on what had happened since they shoved off across the Channel last week". The paper is a b...it fragile with splitting and holes on the horizontal fold and along the edges. But it was a first- the first of daily issues sent to US troops in France.
