This auction is for a 16MM film reel of what appears to be test footage from the 1970 Walt Disney animated film The AristoCats. There are two partially complete scenes from the film on this reel. Each scene is a composite of regular color animation filled in with b&w segments from the pencil tests that have also been animated. The soundtrack is also included. The first spot is the lawyer coming to visit and the butler discovering all of his employer's money ...will be left to the cats. The second segment is the introduction of O'Malley including his song "I'm O'Malley the Alley Cat". This is no other information on the reel. Please see photos.This is a 7 inch 16mm reel. The two segments run a total of approximately 10 minutes.
This reel is part of several we recently purchased from a retired television station employee. He worked their for many years and carried home many of the spots they received when they were done with them. The photos are taken off a movie screen so this reel should project better in person. The color is very good for film of this age. The pencil test footage photographs light but look much better in person. There is some minor wear but it ran fine in our projector. Please see photos.
