Rare & Hard-to-Find Vintage 1920s "Weis Visible Index" Oak Flat File 8-Drawer Filing Cabinet. The bottom of each drawer holds a fiberboard sheet with slots to hold tabbed ledger cards. The cabinet retains many of the original ledger cards with notations for springs, sockets, bushings, axles, tie rods, and so on, suggesting that the file cabinet was used in an old hardware store, general store, or auto supply store. I glanced at a few of the ledger cards and found dates from the lat...e 1920s to early 1930s. The drawer fronts are gorgeous, with brass drawer pulls and index name holders. Some pretty figured oak on the sides. The bottom / underside is unfinished, with applied felt fabric so that it won't scratch your desk or work table. Measures about 8.25" X 8.25" X 24" and weighs about 38 pounds (added weight due to the fiberboard drawer bases & ledger cards). The interior drawer size is about 6.25" wide by 21" deep. The original Weis label is on the inside of one of the drawers near the back. This cabinet is in Very Good Condition. The cabinet is complete with working drawers. There is a 0.25" chip at the upper right-hand side corner near the front. There is a 0.25" flake in the wood on the left side panel. There is a small burn mark on the top near the front. There may be felt missing from the bottom. SHIPPING NOTE: This item can be picked up locally in Omaha, Nebraska.
