This auction is for a very good condition 16mm black and white print of the Popeye cartoon A WOLF IN SHEIK'S CLOTHING (1948). This print is complete from head to tail with the A.A.P. open and close and absolutely no splices during the body of the cartoon (there is a splice just prior to the complete opening fade-in and another just after the complete fade-out).
The image is very clean with only one to three very fine lines that pop up here and there. Overall, the image is very... sharp with excellent contrast. The sound is clean and clear. There is no vinegar odor. I'm sure you'll be pleased.
In this one, Popeye and Olive are vacationing in Egypt. After they stop at a local filling station, an amorous sheik catches Olive's eye. This cartoon is particularly noteworthy for its riotous integration of local culture into the narrative. And what a wonder it is to see Olive in harem gear! Wowzer! Don't miss the scene where Popeye and the sheik share a hookah! You'll even find a magic carpet and the Great Sphinx in this classic.
A WOLF IN SHEIK'S CLOTHING ran about 7:04 on my Eiki Super Slim Slotload and is mounted on a nice, 400 foot plastic reel. This film was carefully cleaned from head to tail with Film Renew just before being listed for auction. It's 100% ready to enjoy.
