16mm Film Phantom Creeps (1939) Complete 12 Chapter Serial Bela Lugosi ORIG PD
Item History & Price
With a laboratory full of monstrous creations including a giant robot, explosive mechanical spiders, an invisibility belt and a strange meteorite that can stop entire armies dead in their tracks, Dr. Alex Zorka (apparently the hardest working mad scientist around) seeks revenge on those who scoffed at his ideas. In 12 action packed episodes Zorka must ...run the gauntlet between federal authorities and the lethal foreign agents who covet his all-powerful weaponry. This serial spectacular contains a myriad of plot twists and a performance by Bela so charged with enthusiasm that we actually find ourselves rooting for him as he plots mass destruction in his bid to conquer the world.
It’s a wonderful print to view because it’s a Bona Fide Kodak Original (except for Chapter 6 which is on Eastman stock). The density and contrast look great and the clarity is excellent with a crispness that is far better than the typical 3M dupes you commonly see listed of this title. Regarding the film’s physical condition, it’s in generally good shape with only light-to-medium wear throughout. Prints project smoothly, and are very watchable and enjoyable. All chapters are complete and include "Don't Miss Next Week's Chapter" closings. No Vinegar Smell. Comes mounted on five 2000ft reels.
And keep in mind, even though Chapter 6 isn't an original, a BluRay release is currently being help up due to this very chapter not having any surviving 35mm material on. So think of it this way, Universal doesn't even have it!
This film appears to be solidly in the public domain.
If you're a serial completest, historian, or aficionado you won't want to let this one get away--bid soon because this title is hard to find on 16mm...bid now!
Pictures above are all from the actual film being offered taken while the print was running on a projector. Film is much sharper than pictures indicate. Some pictures might be more out of focus than others due to the camera used NOT the actual print.
Any questions at all feel free to ask and thanks for looking!
