ARTIST: EUGENE ALEXANDER MONTGOMERY (Eugene A. Montgomery) (1905-2001), LISTED ILLINOIS PORTRAIT ARTIST VINTAGE OIL IMPRESSIONISM, IL Impressionist. Oil on canvas. Appears to be painted around the 1950's 50's to early 60's era based on the original period vintage fra...me (see photos). Signed upper left. Original vintage framing included in this sale. Works appear to be rare, only a few examples have surfaced and sold at auction. Further research is needed on who the subject is in the oil painting, appears to have several self portraits and commissioned portrait work. Well listed auction record artist active from Chicago IL, early Illinois artwork. "Eugene A. Montgomery (1905-2001) Primarily a portrait artist, he specialized in children's portraits. A Chicago artist, Montgomery was originally from Port Arthur, Texas, and did the greater part of his studying at the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of the All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts. Sources include: Catalog:Century of Progress exhibition by artists of Illinois.1933." "Mr. Montgomery also painted murals--some measuring more than 100 feet--that hung in Sears stores nationwide. His mural on the history of the automobile once hung in the offices of Allstate Insurance Co." Chicago Tribune.

CONDITION: As found vintage condition. Could use a light cleaning. Frame has some wear to edges due to age. Some light stretcher bar lines can be seen, common with old antique vintage paintings (see photos). Overall well kept good visible condition.
