This is one of the rarest jackets ever produced with only a handful having been made for high ranking officers. On top of the rarity of this jacket, it is in incredibly good condition. All parts of the jacket are completely functional and there is only very minor wear from use. The jacket retains its original USAF circular chest patch in addi...tion to the original leather nameplate and wings. This jacket is not to be confused with the numerous modern reproductions that have been made after it!
The original owner of this jacket was Colonel George Stanton Dorman (1924-1969) and I have included a biography of his life and career below (from honorstates):“George Stanton Dorman was born on May 23, 1924. According to our records Oregon was his home or enlistment state and Marion County included within the archival record. We have Salem listed as the city.
He had enlisted in the Air Force. Entered via Regular Military. Served during the Vietnam War. He began his tour on April 13, 1969. He had the rank of Colonel. Occupation or specialty was Pilot. Service number was 540240216. Served with HQ Squadron, 366th Tactical Fighter Wing, 7th Air Force.
Dorman was reported missing and ultimately declared dead on August 4, 1969. Recorded circumstances attributed to: "Hostile, died while missing, Air loss or crash over land". Incident location: Near Chu Lai, Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam.
George Stanton Dorman is buried or memorialized at US Military Academy, West Point.George is honored on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Washington DC. Name inscribed at VVM Wall, Panel 20w, Line 95.”

George was married to Mary Dorman (1924-2020), who kept all of his belongings up until her passing. This jacket was acquired from her estate.
