For sale here is a lovely Swan No 4 Safety Screw Cap eyedropper, likely dating from some point in the 1910s. Made over 100 years ago this pen was one of the larger and more expensive pens Mabie Todd had on offer, by vintage standards this is quite a sizeable pen. In the early 1900s Mabie Todd forged their reputation as a top-tier manufacturer due to their sturdy quality and excellent nibs, features which make them excellent pens to this day.
This example is... in truly excellent condition, despite its age the hard rubber is as bright and shiny as the day it left the factory. The imprints are crisp as is the chasing. This pen truly looks like it's fresh out of the factory. It comes with a Swan box, although I'm not sure it's an original box. The pen is fitted with a nice big No 4 nib which has a nice bit of flexibility to it, it writes an extra-fine line unflexed, which combined with the line variation really allows you to try some writing with lots of character. Full details can be seen in the writing sample. I have serviced the pen, flushing it of old ink and testing everything is ink tight, so you get a pen that is ready to write on arrival. All in all this pen is an immaculate example of a high quality vintage fountain pen with an excellent nib with plenty of character.
