Victorian Arts & Crafts sterling silver garnet ring. This rare ornate Arts & Crafts ring is made of 925 sterling silver (tested), hallmarked England and silver. The centre genuine garnet is a beautiful polished cabochon which measures 8mm. The centre cabochon is set in a beautiful decorative twisted silver bezel. The other four (4) genuine garnets are also set in a beautiful silver floral bezel. Lots of stunning silver detail work throughout the entire ring. &...nbsp;The ring is hand crafted and there is beautiful hand engraving on the shoulders of the ring. This beautiful piece is substantial in size and a very sturdy ring. I must say that the ring most definitely makes a statement and has a renaissance feel to it, the ring would be Renaissance revival in style. These rings are rare, this is a beautiful example of a Victorian Arts & Crafts period ring. Note: The Arts and Crafts moment was an international movement in the decorative and fine arts that flourished in Europe and North America between 1880 and 1910, emerging in japan in the 1920s. It stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms, and often used medieval, romantic or folk styles of decoration. It advocated ecumenic and social reform, and has been said to be essentially anti-industrial . Its Influence was felt in Europe until it was displaced by modernism in the 1930s, and continued among craft makers, designers and town planners long afterwards. The movement developed earliest and most fully in the British Isles, and spread across the British Empire and to the rest of Europe and North America. It was largely a reaction against the perceived impoverished state of the decorative arts at the time and the conditions in which they were produced.
