14K GOLD Art Deco Amethyst Cab Cufflinks Sansbury Nellis 1920s-30s 2-Sided S-NIn 14 Karat Yellow Gold with luminous amethyst cabochon stones, this captivating pair of signed Art Deco cufflinks from the 1920s or 30s is striking and beautiful. Please forgive the bright spots, shadows and off colors in the photos which are due to camera distortion, reflection and glare; the cufflinks are much nicer in person. And their surfaces are properly smooth and ...;rounded, any appearances to the contrary in the photos notwithstanding. The cabochon cut accentuates the amethysts' ethereal color and they are bezel-set, closed back, in harmonious, gleaming 14 karat yellow gold, which enhances the violet purple cabs. Interesting and sculptural, with a gentle radiance and magical soft glow, they will be really eye catching on your cuffs. Popular with jewelry artists throughout the ages, this mesmerizing stone has long been admired and credited with many wonderful properties. The traditional birthstone for February, amethyst is associated with true love, passion, creativity and spirituality. Once as valuable as diamonds, amethyst was said to be a "Gem of Fire" and was revered for its legendary abilities to both stimulate and soothe, prevent intoxication, heal and provide protection. These cufflinks are signed on the backs, "14K" and "S-N" for Sansbury Nellis who was in business in Newark, New Jersey in the 1920s and 30s. Beautifully made, the cufflinks measure about 7/16" by 5/16" by just under 1/4" deep and together, weigh 4.8 grams. They are in Very Good vintage condition with just expected light surface scratches, dirt and slight tarnish, due to age, as well as the usual imperfections in the natural stones. The gold backing under the cabs shows through on two of them (looking a little lighter), as is often the case. They have a lovely gleaming vintage patina; cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion. Again, please forgive all the distortion in the photos. The links are ever so much nicer in person!Simply elegant and elegantly simple, these Art Deco 14 karat gold and amethyst cabochon cufflinks will look spectacular on your cuffs!
