CORO CRAFT STERLING A.KATZ 1940’S CREAMY FAUX PEARLS & ICE CLEAR CRYSTAL 2-TONE GOLDPLATED BROOCHFor your consideration afairly large CORO 3-D f...igural corsage/spray of "Holly Leaves & Berries"tied with a ribbon. It is signed on the underside on a cartouche "COROCRAFT STERLING". The piece dates early 1940's, however, I am unable to locate the patent. The construction anddesign is typical of similar pieces patentedby Adolph Katz, head designer for Coro during this period. Thebottom layer of the brooch/pin is yellow gold vermeil leaf shaped surfaceand the top layer, a yellow and white gold vermeil small spray of hollyberries made of 6 mm creamy white faux pearls and tiny molded ice crystalpavé leaves. The top layer of the brooch is rivetedto the base. The piece weighs approximately 33.00grams. IT IS A RARELY SEEN DESIGN and verybeautiful to see and handle.DIMENSION: 2 ½”L x 3"W x 5/8”in thickness: All measurements are approximate and taken at widest points.CONDITION: This is pre-owned vintagedesigner costume jewelry in original condition, no changes orrepairs. This piece is approximately 77 years old. It has been instorage. The ice clear rhinestones are mostly sparkly. Thenacre on the pearls have retained their beautiful luster and I have not noticedany nicks, peeling or stripping of the pearls. There are no missingpearls or crystals. The gold plating on the underside ismostly shiny and with some wear to the vermeil surface around the rivets. There is a small amount of wear, some hairline scratches and minorbruises to gold plated surface which hardly shows unlessmagnified and is consistent with age and wear. As I said, to thenaked eye, this piece is shiny and clean. Any dark spots on thegold surface are reflections from my camera. The pin is straight, sharp, sturdy and fits into the rollover latch and fastens securely. To the naked eye it looks pretty near flawless. Structurally, itis well preserved for its age with minor flaws which are only noticeableon magnification as noted above. It will definitely be worthaddition to a collection as it is a collector’s item and fairly hard to comeby.NO RESERVE!...Biddingon this piece starts low below value and does not reflect condition.
