Vintage JBL Century L100 Speakers - fully restored, modernized.
Condition is overall very good to excellent. The cabinets look great, but do have one repair on a back corner where they had been damaged by a previous owner. They were repaired by a woodworker friend of mine (please see closeup photo). Otherwise, the cabinets and veneer are in excellent shape - see photos. Foam grills and frames are original and in very good shape.
The original LE25 tweeters ...were blown and were replaced by the LE25 copy available from Simply Speakers for $69 each. From their web site: “This is a direct copy of the famous LE25 cone tweeter used by JBL in several popular home and pro studio monitors for over 30 years.” They sound just fine. All other drivers are original and work perfectly.
The difficult to use spring-loaded push button speaker terminals were upgraded to 5-way binding posts for use with modern speaker cables. Crossover capacitors were replaced with new film and foil capacitors. Potentiometers on the midrange and tweeters were cleaned. Serial numbers are: 74020A & 74022A. Speakers weigh 46 pounds each before packing.
