Offered here without reserve from my personal collection is a fine hand thrown salt glazed stoneware cylindrical butter churn crock of 3 Gal size, with lug handles to either side. Decorated with a two flower hand brushed cobalt blue tulip motif beneath a 3. A nice dark drown/gray stoneware body. Probably from Pennsylvania/Maryland of other Mid-Atlantic region.
height 14 3/4in; widest diameter 8 3/4in; diameter at base 8in; diameter of top 8 1/4in
In excellent condition, no apolog...ies, typical surface wear and imperfections / discoloration from firing process. Old chip to rim on reverse of side with decoration. Displays very well.
