Wilton Baby Bullet Swivel-Base Vise 2 1/2 inch jaws 825 925 RAW! Found this recently in a garage where it lookede like it had been sitting unused for 60 years or so. Seems to be in original shape as far as the mechanics and shows its age on the original paint. After re-greasing, operates smoothly and very tight!. As you can see from the photos, I disassembled to clean and grease, and reassembled largely like I found it. When I was cleaning, I wire-brushed the surface rust and old ...grease off to expose the numbers on the surfaces, and put some lithium grease on the sliding and swiveling surfaces, but left the rest alone. The keyway, the shaft and the screw inside were cleaned of old grease (Simple Green) and re-greased before reassemble.
It does not appear as though anything harder than masking tape was clamped in this baby, as the surfaces of the apparently original jaws are UNMARRED! and meet precisely. I left the rusty patina on those and the handle, with a light coat of motor oil to preserve. Also, as you can see, the interior is rust free, as it was relatively tightly sealed. The "anvil" pad may have been struck lightly once as the original machine marks are visible after brushing. Stickers still partially visible (Five-Year Warranty probably expired). This beautiful example of precision Chicago machine tool can be used as is, or stripped and restored to NEW with little effort. Weight: 12 lbs. 10 inches stem to stern, 5 in. wide, 4 1/2 in. High. Jaws open 3.25 in.
