The anvil has a “6” cast into it at the base under the horn as well as the name “FISHER”. One side has the FISHER eagle logo cast into it and the other side of the anvil is free of any identification marks. Cast into the base under the heal of the anvil the following is cast into the anvil : 1881 May 18, 1884 June 28 ‘87 4 : 8. Also on the eagle logo side of the anvil, the rear foot under the heal has a letter “A” cast into it. These are all the markings I’ve noted on this piece. The anvil appears to be in very nice condition with only some small chips on the outside edge of the top face. The previous owner of this anvil did not radius the outside edges of the working face and that allowed for these minor chips to occur. These small chips are quite common on sharp faced edges. Most, if not all, of the small chips should be removed once the face is radiused.
I’m not sure what else I can say about this anvil so I added numerous photos to the listing. Look at the photos and you be the judge on just what this anvil is, it’s condition and application. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and I’ll answer them as best I can. I feel confident the winning bidder will be most pleased with this anvil.
I’m listing this anvil as a “ pick up only” item. I’m an old man in his 70’s and not in the best of shape. I’m not sure how I would box it up and send it. If you want to arrange shipping, I’ll assist you any way I can.
Good Luck !!!
