Title: Unusual Fancy Dial Single Button Chronograph Pocket Watch 1890's Swiss RUNS! NR
Description: The unusual and ornate 1880's vintage single button chronograph pocket watch was probably designed to be used as a horse racing timer. The watch has an extremely ornate fancy multi-color single sunk porcelain dial with unusual gilt filigree hands. The watch has a subsidiary seconds dial at 6:00 and a center sweep seconds stopwatch feature. The movement is marked PAT Feb 14 th 88 - which at an educated guess references patent by Heuer - we have put up a photo of the patent (not included in the auction for ref only) and we will leave it up to you to decide as the movement is not signed that we could find.
The 18 size lever set nickel movement is in a Crescent Watch Case Company Planet grade gold filled open face case with engine turned decoration on the back cover. The case has a glass cuvette or observation back to allow the viewing of the movement. The case is in very good condition and does not exhibit any brassing or plate loss. The watch is running and the single button chronograph feature works correctly. We recommend having the watch cleaned since we do not know when it was last serviced and the time setting feature is working but is stiff.
Please note: This is an estate item and we have NO service history - although the watch is running we have not timed it for accuracy - as it has been stored for many years.
