Router Hand Plane Ohio Tool no 071 1/2. Similar To Stanley No 71 1/2. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.OHIO TOOL CO. Was a hardware store company similar to Sears. They had makers like Stanley make them hand planes branded with their names. This plane is the same size as a Stanley no 71 1/2. KnobsThis router plane is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks in the cast iron. One knob has been repaired. I cleaned the split, glued, sanded and oiled the knob. There is ...a small chipped area, see pictures. I sanded and oiled the second knob as well. I only sanded enough to get them smooth, there are still some small imperfections.RefinishedThe original japanning was mostly gone but overall there was very little rust. I removed the remaining rust and japanning using evaporust and a small wire brush. I do not like to use acid based cleaners. Afterwards I used mineral spirits to clean the plane. I then used black rustoleum engine enamel. This enamel is tough stuff, think tractor paint. This is the same paint I use when refurbishing bench planes. After I let the enamel sit for a couple weeks, it is as hard as a rock. It is a popular paint for hand planes.The bottom is flat and the iron is sharp. This plane is ready to work! ShippingI know how frustrating it is to get a cracked hand plane in the mail. I will wrap in bubble wrap and pack tightly in a medium sized flat rate box.
