As the hundred year anniversary of the First World War comes to an end this year, I am selling my uber rare World War One Hoheitsadler or German National Eagle Plaque also referred too sometimes as the Nuremberg Eagle. This Golden eagle of Germany takes it roots from the Imperial Roman Eagle of Rome after Charlemagne adopted Rome's Golden eagle when he was crowned Emperor of the Romans in 800 AD. His Coronation mantle cape has four large golden eagles on it an d is th...e only design of any type seen on it. The German National Eagle is flanked by two bust of two of the most famous Germans ever. The Hoheitsadler is flanked on one side by Wilhelm II who was the last German Emperor or Kaiser (meaning Caesar) of the German Empire. On the other side of the Hoheitsadler, we have Otto von Bismarck, Prince of Bismarck and Duke of Lauenburg and Minister President of Prussia. The National Eagle is clutching a Laurel Wreath with it's talons, which in itself is an ancient symbol of Victory for the Romans. Within the Laurel Wreath is the German Iron Cross. The Iron Cross medal dates back to the Napoliaic Wars and was the most sought after medal by the German soldier. Almost all of Germany's highest and most prestige's medals were designed with this cross in them or on them. The size of this piece is 25.5 cm by 19.5 cm. This is an extremely rare piece and the only one I have even ever seen after collecting since the 1970's. You cannot find a more awesome looking German World War Two library shelf piece.
