For your consideration is an Atlantic No. 510 glass washboard. Atlantic is a model that was produced by National Washboard Co. At the time, this washboard was manufactured; National Washboard Co. had facilities in Chicago, Saginaw & Memphis. Washboards with a glass scrubbing surface were produced during WW II when metals were unavailable, because they were being directed to the making of things for the war effort. On this washboard, the word NATIONAL is embo...ssed on the scrubbing surface at least 30 times. The total height is 24". The width is 12 1/2". The visible part of the glass scrubbing surface is slightly more than 11 3/4" tall and slightly less than 11" wide. This washboard is an old item that was used. The wood is weathered (probably from clothes washing water). The writing is faded. The thin board (with the writing on it) is slightly warped. The glass is in perfect condition.
