MEREDITH'S DIAMOND CLUB CHINA MINI JUG WATCH FOB, CHARM, PENDANT OR ADVERTISING GIVE AWAY. This is a mini version of the classic Knowles, Taylor and Knowles Pottery Company Meredith's quart jug. The Knowles Taylor and Knowles pottery also operated in East Liverpool Ohio from 1854-1931. They manufactured Lotus Ware which was meant to compete with Belleek porcelain which was produced in Ireland. I'm not saying that K T & K made the jug you're bidding on but I'...d say that there's a pretty good chance. The jug is in excellent condition. The jug is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, hairlines or damage of any kind There's gold hilighting on the handle, lip and around the top of the jug which is intact. The gold has been worn off on several of the jugs I've seen. There's red paint on the lip which is intact. I've been told that the jug was meant to be used as a watch fob on a watch or as a pendant or charm on a bracelet. The handle is delicate and it's not unusual for it to be broken off. The blue lettering reads "Meredith's Diamond Club Pure Rye Whiskey". It's difficult to see the words "Pure Rye" in my pictures but it's there. The jug is slightly more than 1 inches tall and was made in a 2 piece mold. The base is unmarked. My mother whose maiden name is Meredith is a direct descendant of George Washington Meredith who was born in Utica, New York in 1850. GW Meredith was of Welsh descent and moved to East Liverpool in 1877. Meredith worked at Knowles, Taylor and Knowles until 1880. After that he ventured into the liquor business. His advertising logo was "The Whiskey Without a Headache"!! His business thrived until East Liverpool went dry in 1907. Meredith was also a founder and stock holder of Crockery City Brewing Company. He passed away in Atlantic City 1925.. Great story and a great jug. Cheers!!
