Up for auction is a wonderful vintage ANRI hand carved and hand painted bust of the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Mater Dolorosa”. The statue is approximately 8.75” tall and 4” wide at the base. The coloring on this Mary bust is just wonderful
This carving is in very nice preowned condition with no observable damage. There are no labels or markings on the this carving, but I believe it to be from the 1970s based on the coloring and carving details.
Please see pictures for... better details and full description. Although the last photo, from a 1974 ANRI catalog, shows the bust to be 10”, the bust up for auction is approximately 9” in height. It may possibly be an earlier carving, but I have no ANRI catalogs between 1961 and 1974, so I do not know the exact date of the the carving.
