Today we are happy to offer for sale a lovely vintage Limoges Pierre Arquie cat porcelain trinket box!
Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain produced by factories in and around the city of Limoges, France beginning in the late 18th century. By about 1830 Limoges, which was close to the areas where suitable clay was found, had replaced Paris as the main center for private porcelain factories. Limoges has maintained this position to the present day.
This fabulous box features the whimsical shape of a sweet brown and white green-eyed cat atop a textured maroon and green oval base, with painted cat bed interior and ribbon gilt ormolu trim. The piece was crafted by Pierre Arquie and is marked "Porcelaine Limoges France Peint Main Edition Limitee Pierre Arquie"
Box presents beautifully and is in very good vintage condition, with very minimal display wear and no chips or cracks. This fabulous box will make a beautiful addition to any fine Limoges trinket box collection...Fresh to the market!
