From an extensive family collection and now offered for your own:
(acquired by a family member in Germany in the late 1940's)
a vintage Black Lacquer Oriental Wooden Tray with Silver Overlay.
Measures approximately 16 1/4" long x 10 1/4" wide, with two handles cut out,
and a raised all around 1 1/2" rim with a labyrinth / maze design.
This lovely tray features a silhouette applique style silver overlay
depicting a Japanese lady with parasol in a rickshaw bei...ng pulled by Coolie
under a large flowering tree trunk with branches of leaves, blossoms, and fruit.
The underside design appears to be a black applied surface including a stamp stating
MADE
IN
JAPAN
It shows many age cracks and gauges along the edges,
but will still make a nice addition to any vintage Oriental or tray collection.
