This lovely "Atlas B" sewing machine was manufactured in Braunschweig, Germany by "Grimme Natalis & Co.".The central logo has "B, Manufactured for the Atlas Co. in Brunswick", this is the English name for Braunschweig.There are makers/retailers details impressed in to the removable cloth plate, although, these are faint and difficult to read.The machine has retained a lot of its' original gilt work, to the bed, balance wheel cover, needle plate and superb casting on the base, however,... it has worn mainly, around the arm where the machine has been picked up over the years and to the bed. The black japanning has only minor wear, mainly, to the edges and feet.The casting to the legs, arms and base are still crisp and clean and there are no chips or cracks.The exposed metal work does show signs of surface rust blemishes.The shuttle and bobbin are present.The serial number is "204819"The wooden handle is well attached and the machine does turn, but it is a little stiff.
