This is a vintage Singer Portable 1956 301A Slant Needle sewing machine in LBOW (Light Beige & Oyster White). Serial Number NB097325. Sometimes considered the "Big Sister to the Singer Featherweight 221". It weighs only 16 pounds and has a carry handle on top. It was designed to be portable or it could be installed into a cabinet (clip on the bottom). The sewing machine has the original petal (bakelite) and power cord with plug (also bakelite). Both are in good co...ndition - pliable and no damage. The machine is also in good condition - some minor visible scuffs along the bottom edge from cabinet installation but mostly unscathed elsewhere. It comes with a bobbin (it is not in the bobbin case, it's on the top thread pole) with black thread in it. It has a foot and a needle already on the machine. It comes with the instruction manual, power cord and pedal. There are no other accessories or case. The light works, the motor runs and sounds good (to my untrained ear). I did not smell any strange odors or see any smoke, sparks, and there were no shorts. It appears to be in good running order. The needle goes up and down however it is not threaded (and the bobbin case is not threaded) so I did not test it further. Because of my limited testing ability, this is being sold as is. I do not know when it was last serviced, cleaned. (estate purchase). It appears to be in working order however I would recommend a tune up prior to putting it into regular service. I did not oil this machine. According to research, this is machine has a no lubrication required motor and there is no lube tube on the machine. It is missing one rubber foot on the bottom of the machine but there is a screw where the the rubber popped off. I just folded a piece of paper and inserted it under the machine. It worked fine and the machine was balanced. I did make a video demonstration that is viewable on You Tube.
