Very Rare High Grade Circle 6 Julius Vesz Craft DR Briar Billiard
Julius Vesz: From his websiteVesz is renowned for using dead root briar. This briar root died and remained untouched for hundreds of years before it was dug out of the ground, enabling it to dry and age naturally, nature has to cure the wood. Pipes created from this unique and rare material offer a cool, smooth smoking experience. Except for Vesz's personally owned stockpile there is no more dead root briar, it is all... gone. Vesz says, "Deadroot briar has been dead in the ground for years, where it is cured by nature, where it is hidden from insects and fire. But it just isn't obtainable anymore. The whole industry is now using green wood ? wood that is taken out of the ground alive. So if you've started smoking a pipe within the last 10 or 15 years (written 1997, so now in 2016 it would be approx 30-35 years), you haven't experienced deadroot briar, unless you have some old estate pipes. Serious collectors know this is a very rare high Grade Circle 6 Vesz Craft Briar as he made less than 300 Craft Briars (1959 to 1966) before he switched over to stamping his pipes “Julius Vesz” Over the years, I have seen only 7 Craft Briars and I bought 2 and this is the only Circle 6 I have come across. Selling both as I no longer smoke pipes with no filters.
This small pipe is cut from a flawless piece of Dead Root briar and the original high grade ebonite stem has no toothmarks. Minor darkening and some marring around the mouth of the bowl. No cracks, chips or burn-outs. In excellent condition considering its age. Hardly any carbon present in the bowl, so please smoke it like a new pipe. Come with a Craft Briar sleeve.
