Very noce Caravelle Pocket watch with Unitas 6498 Movement. Unitas 6498 are still sold today under the ETA label (with some minor changes through the years). The case is base metal, gold toned, and has an R engraved on the front, that looks to have been scratched out. It opens by pushing down on the crown. It closes tightly. The back is hinged and has a pop off dust cover. The back shuts well too. The crown matches the color well. The crystal is fairly clear of scratches or haz...e, but you might see a small scratch under magnification. The dial and hands are in good shape as well and the dial says: Caravelle 17 jewels; Incabloc; Swiss Made. This is a arabic numeral dial, looks very clean with Louis XV style hands. Also gold toned chain with some wear. The movement itself is a Swiss made Unitas 6498 16.5’’’ (16.5 ligne) mechanical hand winding watch movement. It’s is marked Caravelle Watch 16 A02 N6 on the train bridge, but it is clearly a Unitas 6498 as stamped on the main plate. These were originally made for hunter pocket watch orientation (wind at 3, sub-seconds at 6); but make a very nice wristwatch conversion. This movement is a silver / nickel color with a hammered or fish scale finish. Hard to photo it well. 17 jewel, Swiss made movement.The movement was disassembled, ultrasonically cleaned using L&R cleaning and rinsing solutions, reassembled and lubricated with Moebius D5, 9010, 941, 9504 and 8200. It was then timed and adjusted (regulated) as you see in the pictures to around +17 seconds per day dial down to around -15 seconds per day pendant up. The amplitude is great (over 300 degrees) and the beat error is a fantastic 0.0ms. A labor of love ready for you to use!
