Quattrocento School - Possibly Sain...t Julian The Hospitator
Fine 15th 16th century early Italian Renaissance School icon of a young saint holding a sword, oil on gold panel. Early and important small devotional icon on a gold carved panel depicting a young martyr/saint possibly Saint Julian. Original condition very good for its age. These types of work marked the beginning of the renaissance and were heavily promoted by patrons such as the Medici family.
Provenance: UK Collection of Old Masters including several other early pieces including saints and scene of the Flight Into Egypt and The Annunciation.
