OBJECT// Antique Chinese Tibetan gilt bronze statue of the buddhist deity Mahakala, Mahakala has a stunning ferocious expression and a fabulous sense of movement as he strikes a powerful pose while dancing on Serpents, the depth of detail and decoration is breathtaking, every section and surface has an almost painful dedication to quality and refinement, his robes and jewels are beyond the extraordinary, at the centre of his chest is the symbol of the wheel, symbolic for the circle of creation of the world and the universe, huge attention to detail has been taken depicting the refinement of the hands/fingers Feet/Toes, other areas showing amazing quality is his stunning crown of human skulls with inlayed turquoise stones for eyes and from a technical point his earnings have moving articulated tassels of bronze, the whole surface has a beautiful gold mercury gilt surface, very important spiritual object, good weight 1242 grams, very much scholars taste, dating from the late 18th century, genuine antique object, superb colour and patina, serious collectors object.
