This Jesup Expedition (1897-1902) photo album consists of 19 photographs ranging in size from 2 1/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches to 4 3/4 by 6 3/4 inches. The Jesup Expedition was an expedition to Siberia, Alaska and the Northwest Coast of Canada to compare the peoples of the Bering Strait. These photos are from the Siberian part of the Expedition. This album has a card which states the album was purchased in 1934 from the Museum. This refers to the American Mus...eum of Natural History in New York, which Morris Jesup who the Expedition was named after, was President. All photos which have been examined have an identification number and description of the photo on the reverse written in pencil, and are marked "Please credit photograph to the AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY New York".
