Antique 2 Weight Striking Vienna Regulator Wall Clock. Walnut Case

MOREPICTURES AFTER ITEM DESCRIPTION This 2 weight Vienna wall clock wasmanufactured in Germany circa 1880 and has a serial number 168282 stamped in tothe back and front plates of the movement. The clock has a running duration of8 days and is in excellent and original working condition. Thewell-proportioned case is in excellent condition and veneered in a wellfigured walnut which has an excellent original gloss finish along with a nicepatina consistent with a ...well preserved antique. The door to the case hascanted corners with fine half round pillars giving the case an elegant yetrestrained appearance. The appliedmouldings door pillars and the finials are partially ebonised contrasting wellwith the walnut veneer. At the top of the case is a small detachable pedimentwith part ebonised mouldings and carved adornments with 2 similar finialseither side. At the bottom of the case the shaped and veneered base istypical of the Vienna regulator style. The case is in excellent condition andthe glass to the sides and the door of the case is original.As with all weight driven Viennaregulators the movement is of the highest quality having maintaining power anddead beat escapement for accurate timekeeping. The movement has justbeen professionally cleaned and is original to the case. It iskeeping excellent time and striking reliably. Striking is every hour (once foreach hour indicated) and then once for every half hour on a coiled steel gongfixed to the movement mounting bracket. I have included some pictures ofthe movement at the end of the item description.
The white porcelain dial has Roman numerals and a subsidiary second’s dial itis in excellent condition with no damage or hairline cracks at all. The pulleysand the brass cased weight and pendulum are also in near perfect condition. Thepierced steel hands are of typical Viennese style.As can be seen from the photographs, although well over 120 years old thisclock is in superb original condition requiring no restoration at all.
