Today we are delighted to offer for sale a rare and stunning set of antique Victorian Venetian cobalt and gilt glass dishes! This elegant and refined set is the epitome of fine Italian/Venetian art glass craftsmanship and design. Each piece is uniquely hand-crafted and detailed. The set is crafted of hand-blown cobalt glass with hints of regal purple. Each piece is lavishly decorated with Neoclassical opulent gilded borders highlighted with red and gold painted beads in the egg and dart border. The set is very fine and delicate, with shell-like thickness. This elegant service was no doubt the possession of a family of means and used during formal dinners. This rare set is truly remarkably intact considering its' fragility and preciousness. Each piece features visible pontil marks on bottom. The set is composed of the following pieces:
1 large serving octagon bowl
13 plates
13 medium serving octagon bowls
10 small octagon bowls
13 tazzas/compotes
Set presents beautifully and is in excellent antique condition, with very minimal display wear and patina and no chips or cracks.There is very minor loss to gilding. Add old world Italian grandeur and eleganza to any fine dinner or luncheon table setting with this regal and beautiful set...Fresh to the market from an old Rhode Island estate!
