These entree dishes were owned by members of the aristocratic and ancient De Burgh (or B...urke) family, one of the largest landowners in Ireland, though I have not pinpointed exactly who. Possibly the Earl of Clanricarde. These are both beautifully engraved on each side with a Cat-a-mountain heraldic Armorial and the Armorial coat of arms quartered and motto “A Cruce Salus” (From the cross comes salvation). These measure approx. 15” at the handles, 7.5” tall to top of finial and 9.5” deep. Very heavy at over 20 pounds for the pair. Silver surface is magnificent and mirror like with little wear.
